Music Ministries

The music ministries at Madison Heights Baptist Church have traditionally been strong. There is a place for all musicians ages 2 to 102 and beyond. The emphasis of these choirs is on using the talents we have been given to collectively magnify and glorify the name of the Lord. In addition, we have many soloists, ensembles, and instrumentalists that add to our worship and witness in Madison Heights. New musicians are welcome to join the ministry at any time!

2 & 3 Year Old Choir – This choir offers toddlers the chance to learn that they can praise God. It also provides a time to socialize and make friends with other toddlers. This choir meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:30- 7:25 pm.

Preschool Choir – A continuation of the 2 & 3 Year Old Choir, this group of preschoolers use their voices, their bodies, and instruments to learn to praise God at church, at home, and with their friends. This choir meets on Wednesday evenings from 6:30- 7:25 pm.

Children’s Choir – Involving 1st through 5th graders, this choir learns two musicals a year (one for Christmas and one for Spring) that teach biblical truths about the nature of God as well as some music theory. This choir also sings for worship several times a year.
Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:25 pm.

Praise Ringers – This is a choir for developing handbell ringers. For youth in grades 6 through 12, members of this choir learn to ring handbells and mature in their ringing skills. The Praise Ringers play for worship services on occasion as well as for special
programs. They meet on Sunday evenings from 5:00-5:45 pm.

Heights of Praise – All youth in grades 6 through 12 are invited to sing in this choir as we continue to develop an understanding of God and what He requires of us as followers. This choir presents several special programs to the congregation throughout the year, leads in morning worship services on occasion, and travels on mission trips every couple of years. The Heights of Praise Choir rehearses on Sunday evenings from 5:45-6:30 pm.

The Koinonias – If you are a senior adult who wants to make a difference in the lives of others in Central Virginia, then this is the choir for you. This group of active seniors uses tone chimes to prepare and present a program of “oldies” (sacred and secular) to nursing homes, assisted living centers, and various church groups, senior groups and civic organizations throughout the year. Members do not need to be able to read music – the only requirement is a love for spreading happiness, cheer, and the Good News to others.
This choir meets on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am.

Sanctuary Bell Choir – A dedicated group of musicians, the handbell choir works to provide special music for worship services throughout the year. This choir also presents several concerts around the community during the year. They meet on Thursday evenings from 6:30-7:30 pm.

Greater Heights – This choir is an auditioned vocal ensemble drawn from the Chancel Choir. Presenting music for morning worship several times throughout the year, this choir prepares music with a contemporary flavor. Rehearsals are held as necessary.

Chancel Choir – This choir is the primary worship leader at Madison Heights Baptist Church. This choir is open to all adults who feel called to minister to the Lord and His people through the powerful medium of music. In addition to regularly leading in worship, this choir presents several cantatas each year, works with other church choirs to present massed choir programs, and leads in worship at other churches when invited. Meeting on Thursday evenings from 7:30-8:45 pm, new members are welcome at any time.
